Trauma Training
Why does my child approach strangers? Why does my child hoard food? How do I handle meltdowns when I don’t know what causes them?
Being trauma-informed will help identify some of these common behaviors that we see in foster and adoptive children. Understanding how past trauma, even from a young age, affects all aspects of development can give parents insight into their children’s behavior and can provide the tools needed to connect with your child by understanding the why behind the behaviors.
The Importance of Trauma Training
Parenting a foster child or adoptive child comes with unique challenges. Children in care have experienced trauma in one way or another. Understanding how that trauma affects their development and behavior is key to parenting kids from hard places and helping them learn to create and maintain healthy relationships.
Does your organization work with at-risk youth? Do you have foster, adoptive, or blended families in your organization? Equip your team or childcare workers with the knowledge they need to positively impact kids from hard places.
